The BBAA’s annual major event, now in its 7th year, has become a key milestone in the calendar of all those keen to find out core trends and developments in early stage investing, offering an important forum for interaction for all those concerned with this market.
The 2011 BBAA National Investment Summit, taking place on 1st July sponsored by Lloyds TSB Commercial and hosted by theICAEW London Region at the prestigious facilities of theCharteredAccountants Hall; 1 Moorgate Place, London EC2, offers an exciting programme of expert speakers and panellists from both the UK and international sources .
Key speakers and panellists will include: Prof Rob Wiltbank, USA (who carried out the original research on angel returns in the US and UK will be returning to present his latest findings on super Angel Investing in Silicon Valley. Serial Angel investors, Alex Hoye and Stefan Glaenzer, co-founder of White Bear Yard and new Passion Capital ECF will look at entrepreneurial investing in the UK. Hugh Campbell from GP Bullhound and Luke Raskino from Unilever new Business will keep us updated about the latest hot areas for investing including mobile/m-commerce; healthcare and cleantech.
We will hear about new developments at the Tech City technology cluster, dubbed Silicon Valley Roundabout and what is happening in the North east about actions to support early stage investment. In the afternoon, we will hear about international trends and Karen Wilson from OECD in Paris will update us on a survey of Angel investing around the world while John May from the Angel Capital Association will speak about new developments among US Angels including a focus on shortening time to exits.
We will also hear about the new £2.5bn Business Growth Fund launched by the UK Banks and Rory Early from Capital for Enterprise Ltd will review current initiatives, including the new £50m Angel Co-investment Fund. Richard Anton, Chair of BVCA will review the progress on the Year of Venture and how VCs and Angels can work together more closely in the early stage investment space.
