London Seed Capital Limited (‘LSC’) is a single purpose, ten year fund. £4,650,000 has been invested in it by the Small Business Service as part of the Government’s Early Growth Funding initiative and a further £150,000 is pledged for co-investment by the fund management team and Investment Committee. LSC is only able to invest where its investment is at least matched by business angels. It can invest up to £465,000 in any one company with a maximum of £100,000 in the first round.

LSC operates in conjunction with the London Business Angel network (‘LBA’) through which the majority of the required matched business angel investment is likely to be sourced. It is an essential ingredient of LSC’s investment model that as part of the business angel syndicate with which it is investing there is a lead business angel investor with some interest in being involved with the company post investment. LSC anticipates selling its shares in any given investment within a three to five year time frame, either through a trade purchase of the investee company, a share buy-back, or through a public flotation of the shares.
